The Russian Ministry of Defense has announced that Ukraine launched a missile attack on a location where its troops were stationed on New Year’s Eve 2023 based on information received from mobile phone signals.
The Russian Ministry of Defense further stated that 89 of its soldiers were killed in the missile attack by Ukraine.
This is considered to be the first time that Russia has admitted that the largest number of its soldiers have died during the invasion of Ukraine.
It is reported that Ukraine had used the HIMARS American rocket attack system which was recently given to them by America for this attack.
The missile attack was carried out on a college in the Donetsk region of Ukraine, which is under the control of Russia, and it is said that a large number of Russian troops were stationed there at that time.
Also Russia has mentioned that the Ukrainian army has launched a missile attack on the relevant target by using the signals after the Russian troops started using their mobile phones with the dawn of the new year.
The Russian authorities have mentioned that the enemies were able to find the target easily due to the prohibited use of mobile phones by their military members, and they will conduct an investigation and enforce the law against the soldiers who used the phones.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement today that Lieutenant Colonel Bachurin, the deputy commander of the Russian army regiment in the Donetsk region, was among the dead.
Meanwhile, Ukraine claims that 400 Russian soldiers were killed and another 300 were injured in its missile attack.
