military drills around Taiwan

The Chinese military conducts large-scale military drills in the vicinity of Taiwan.

According to Taiwan’s Defense Ministry, China’s first large-scale military drills around the island this year included the deployment of 28 airplanes across the Taiwan Strait on Sunday.

According to the ministry, 57 aircraft, including three drones and one early warning and reconnaissance aircraft, were observed near Taiwan, including the 28 People’s Liberation Army (PLA) planes.

Taiwan has been given the responsibility of responding to Chinese activity through aircraft, naval vessels, and land-based missile systems, according to the government.

A chart that was made public by the ministry shows that PLA aircraft flew across Taiwan’s Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) south of the island seven times before turning slightly north to the east of the median line.

On Sunday, soldiers from the PLA’s Eastern Theater Command conducted combat drills around Taiwan, according to a statement.

According to Taiwan’s Defense Ministry, the PLA sent 47 aircraft across the median line of the Taiwan Strait on December 25, out of a total of 71 sighted around the island.
